Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I join Simply Medicine?
You would benefit from joining Simply Medicine if you expect more from your doctor. Dr. Miller will simplify your life, while improving your health. She believes these two goals go hand in hand. If you have more access to your physician, you can address and solve your healthcare needs more quickly and effectively.
Need a refill? Send Dr. Miller a text message. Need advice on getting your baby to sleep through the night? Shoot Dr. Miller an e-mail. Need a physical but cannot get away from work? See Dr. Miller with absolutely no wait, on your time, or even in your own home. Need a follow-up visit for high blood pressure? Schedule a telemedicine visit over your lunch hour. Your child bumped their head, should you go to the ER? Call Dr. Miller. The possibilities are endless. You deserve a trusted physician who can be there for you the moment you need her.
Does Simply Medicine accept insurance?
No, but do not let that scare you. Insurance free = hassle free. Most patients actually end up saving money on their healthcare expenses.
First, our patients are healthier and better informed. Second, we will save you unnecessary trips to urgent care clinics or the ER. Third, there are no insurance company hoops to jump through or pits to fall into. At Simply Medicine, there are no co-pays, deductibles, insurance rejections, or unexpected bills arriving at your doorstep. All labs and services provided at Simply Medicine are included in full.
Do I still need insurance?
Yes. Health insurance is still necessary for aspects of care you may require outside of Simply Medicine, including medications, specialist consultations, imaging studies, and hospitalizations.
A PPO plan will typically allow us to coordinate your care best. HMO plans may refuse to pay for referrals not ordered by an in-network physician. We are happy to assist you in understanding your insurance plan.
What if I do not have insurance, can I still be a member?
Yes. Dr. Miller will provide you with expert health care at an affordable cost if you are uninsured or underinsured. For aspects of care that you may require outside of Simply Medicine, including medications, specialist consultations, imaging studies, and hospitalizations, we can help you to access resources in our community. Dr. Miller has years of experience providing care to uninsured and underinsured families in Houston.
How do I become a member?

The cost of your medications, specialist consultations, imaging studies, and hospitalizations are not included in your monthly membership fee. You will need to use your health insurance to cover these aspects of your care.
Dr. Miller has practiced in Houston for over 10 years and developed a vast referral network of specialists and cost-effective imaging facilities to refer you to, if necessary. She will also provide coordination of care and speak directly to your entire healthcare team.
Are home visits included in my membership?
Yes. In response to COVID-19, Simply Medicine is offering house calls at no additional charge to our members. This is a substantial savings. Typically, house calls cost $149 on weekdays and $249 on weekends. You and your family’s health and safety is our top priority and we feel that this is the safest way to provide you with care during these unprecedented times.
Does Simply Medicine provide COVID-19 testing?
Yes. The cost is included in your monthly membership.
Can I see Dr. Miller for a one-time visit?
Yes. We can provide single visits for a few extenuating circumstances.
If your first contact with us is for an acute care need or medication refill, and the urgent nature does not allow the time for a meet and greet consultation prior to enrollment in our practice, Dr. Miller will still be happy to see you. The charge for this one-time visit will be $149 + the cost of any blood work or in house labs necessary.
To continue to receive care from Dr. Miller, as well as access the full panel of membership benefits, you will need to enroll as a member of our practice.
What is a concierge practice?
Simply Medicine is a unique type of concierge practice, called direct primary care. This type of concierge practice does not accept insurance. We do not rely on insurance payments, co-pays, deductibles, or other insurance related fees to fund your care. We have a direct relationship with you, and only you. Insurance companies are not involved and have absolutely no rights to your medical information. This provides multiple benefits to our patients.
First, by eliminating the confines of insurance, Dr. Miller is able to see fewer patients, spend more time with each individual, provide higher quality care, and radically change the healthcare experience for her patients.
Secondly, this model will save you money. At Simply Medicine, there are no co-pays, deductibles, insurance rejections, or unexpected bills arriving at your doorstep. All office visits, labs and services provided by Simply Medicine are included in full. We will save you unnecessary trips to urgent care clinics and the ER. Finally, our patients are healthier and better informed about their health.
How do I pay for my membership?
Your membership fee is charged on a monthly, recurring basis to your bank account, credit, or debit card. This starts on the date of your first visit with Dr. Miller.
